What if I want to start a team myself outside of work or school?
When using personal address book, it is helpful to send to smaller distribution lists (not 100s at a time) so that Internet service providers do not mistakenly flag you as sending spam. Also asking friends and family to add you to their white list will help ensure that your message gets through.
How do I know the site is secure?
Loaves & Fishes, our Sack Hunger website developer Mediasation and our gateway/credit card processor Pay Pal have worked to assure that your information will be protected.
Who will see my personal information?
The demographic information you enter will be seen only by Loaves & Fishes and may be used to contact you again some time in the future. The credit card information will only be seen by Pay Pal the Internet gateway/credit card processor and, of course, your credit card company and yourself.
Why would a small nonprofit like Loaves & Fishes use the Internet to raise funds?
For several years, Loaves & Fishes has increasingly utilized technology to do more with less. By employing technology for our routing system and for reporting of our food donations and deliveries, we have avoided adding extra staff, the single most costly item in our budget. By using the Internet to reach more people and educate them about hunger here at home, we are able to keep the cost of acquiring new donors to a minimum.
What about information for my tax records?
Each donor will receive an email thanking them for their contribution and identifying Loaves & Fishes as eligible to receive contributions. This, along with a credit card or bank statement, will provide documentation for the donor at tax time.
How will Loaves & Fishes use my donation?
Loaves & Fishes will use donated funds from Sack Hunger! to help us bring more fresh food to agencies with summer programs as well as soup kitchens and others that see an increase in the number of children and families they are serving. Summertime hunger, particularly for children, is a tremendous and often hidden problem in our community. Your donation will assist in paying for operating expenses such as salaries, office expenses, telephone and technology expenses, fuel , tires and maintenance for our trucks and insurance costs.
